Spouts, Succulents, and Storage: The Guide to Repurposing Your Candle Jars

Spouts, Succulents, and Storage: The Guide to Repurposing Your Candle Jars

Read Time: 3 minutes

We’re going to let you in on a small secret: when we designed our ceramic vessels, we didn’t just design them to hold wax. We designed them to look beautiful on your shelves long after the last wick has burned down.

If you’re anything like us, you probably have a hard time throwing away gorgeous, heavy-weight ceramic. Good news: you don’t have to. Repurposing your jars isn’t just a weekend DIY craft, it’s a simple, satisfying act of circular living that brings a touch of tactile, eco-friendly charm into your home.

Because our massage candles and classic soy candles have completely different shapes (and use entirely different ingredients), their cleanup methods and afterlife potentials are unique.

Here is your definitive guide to cleaning and reimagining both.

Part 1: The Spouted Vessel (Your Massage Candle)

This vessel is a bit of a showstopper. It features a custom pouring spout and originally held warm, skin-safe, melted botanical oils and butter. Because of its unique shape, it makes the ultimate kitchen or vanity accessory.

How to Clean It: Since massage candle is made of skin-safe, low-melting-point oils, cleaning it is remarkably gentle.

  1. Save the Leftovers: Scrape out any remaining solid oils and put them in a small glass bowl. There is absolutely no reason to waste that gorgeous, hydrating blend, save it to use as a warm hand balm later!

  2. The 1-Minute Soften: Pop the ceramic jar in the microwave for 1 minute to soften any remaining residue.

  3. The Wick Slide: Use a butter knife to gently slide the metal wick tab off the bottom of the warm jar. It should slide right off.

  4. The Final Wash: Wipe the inside with a paper towel while it’s still warm to grab the oil, then wash it with warm water, dish soap, and a soft cloth.

Its Best Second Life:

  • The Precise Cooking Oil Dispenser: This is our absolute favorite reuse case. Fill your clean jar with olive, avocado, or sesame oil. It sits beautifully next to your stove, and the custom spout makes pouring and drizzling completely mess-free.

  • The Sunday Syrup Pourer: Elevate your weekend pancakes by using the vessel to serve warm maple syrup at the table.

  • DIY Skincare Storage: Use it to store bath salts, homemade face masks, or body scrubs on your bathroom counter.

Part 2: The Classic Ceramic Vessel (Your Soy Candle)

Our classic soy candles sit in sleek, heavy, minimalist ceramic cylinders. Because they don't have a spout, they are the ultimate multi-purpose organizational cups, perfect for holding, storing, and organizing.

How to Clean It: Soy wax is incredibly soft and water-soluble, meaning you can clean it without scrubbing yourself into a sweat.

  1. The Hot Water Trick: Carefully pour boiling water into your empty jar and let it sit for 2–3 hours. Fun science fact: soy wax is lighter than water, so the leftover wax will melt, float to the top, and cool into a solid disc.

  2. The Disc Pop: Once it is completely cold, gently press on one side of the wax disc to pop it out. Pop out the metal wick clip from the bottom.

  3. The Final Polish: Use warm soapy water and a soft sponge to remove any remaining film.

  4. Pro-Tip: For stubborn wick adhesive at the bottom, dab a little rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball. It dissolves the stickiness instantly.

Its Best Second Life:

  • Chic Vanity Storage: Use it to hold your makeup brushes, beauty tools, or cotton swabs. It looks like high-end bathroom decor.

  • A Tiny Green Sanctuary: Fill it with soil and a small succulent or air plant. The textured ceramic makes the perfect minimalist planter.

  • The Entryway Catch-All: Keep it by the front door to corral your keys, loose change, or lip balm.

  • Desk Companion: Elevate your workspace by using it to hold pens, pencils, and paperclips.
